Confetti Party Tablecloth

I'm running around like crazy today, I feel like I have so much to do and no time at all to do it in! So I just have a quick project for you guys today, it was so fun to make (okay, I'm a little kid, think I like playing with paint wayyy too much) and very easy!  I want someone to have a birthday now so I can whip out this fun confetti print tablecloth!

I love the confetti on this tablecloth--it looks kind of like sprinkles on a cupcake (imagine how cute this could be for a table with party cupcakes on it!).  You can even make it more grown-up by using all gold paint or even just black to make a fun monochromatic design.

What you'll need:
  • A tablecloth
  • Acrylic paints
  • Textile Medium for acrylic paints
  • An old sponge brush
  • Scissors

1. First you'll cut the tip off of your sponge brush.  I did this so I could have a squared off tip to create the confetti shape on the table cloth.  Just cut the very tip off, not too far down--some sponge brushes have a plastic strip running through the brush (you can see in the photo above, it's that white line) and you don't want to cut through that or your confetti stamp might have a weird look.

2. Mix together your acrylic paint and textile medium according to the bottle.  I do about half and half.  (Is there a job I can get where I just swirl paint together all day? I love doing this way too much.)

3. Spread the tablecloth with cardboard or newspaper under it.  Dip the brush in the mixed paint and stamp the sponge brush onto the tablecloth.

4.  For my tablecloth, I just did the confetti around the edge, but you can cover the entire thing if you like.  Have fun with it!  I did all of one color and then moved on to the next color, etc.

5.  You're done! Let it dry.  Some textile mediums will have you iron the dried paint to "set" it in the fabric.  After it is dry, you can wash and dry it according to the instructions on your textile medium bottle.  Time for a party!

Don't you love those big bright sunflowers? My lovely neighbor Andrea brought them to me yesterday and they've been making me so happy every day!

And ps. I have a guest post on my sister's awesome blog The Copper Collective tomorrow, and it is a project you are not going to want to miss!
